Datça Route
Datça is a peaceful holiday region in the South West of Turkey bridging the Aegean and the Mediterranean. To the north is Bodrum and to the east is the magnificent Gulf of Gökova.

Datça is a district that serves both land tourism and sea tourism with its 52 bays and long coastline.
Datça, which is preferred by surfing and sailing enthusiasts for its windy weather, has also become a favorite destination for diving enthusiasts with its clear sea. It is not a coincidence that this region is a stopover of people who are bored of Bodrum's lively nights. It is a quiet tourist city compared to other holiday resorts.
Datça also has a history dating back to ancient times. The history of the ruins on the Datça Peninsula dates back to the 2000s BC. The first known indigenous people in this region were the Kayrans. The Dorians, who lived a bright period in 1000 BC, descended south from Thrace and founded the city of Knidos. Knidos, which later came under the rule of Lydia, was surrended by the Persians in 540s BC.
The peninsula was united to the Menteşe Principality in the 13th century and joined the borders of the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. Today's Datça took its name at that period.
